Part of the goal of The Stone Development Foundation (TSDF) is to improve the quality of life of the people in the society by enabling them to have access to clean water. Over the years there has been a serious water shortage in Agugu community. There is no stream or pipe-borne water in the community. The people in the community are forced to spend a lot of money to buy water for household use on a daily basis.
The borehole was constructed with the help of TSDF, and a dream come through for the people. This is because of the fact that availability and accessibility to clean water will prevent them from contracting water-borne diseases. It is estimated that the borehole will serve an estimated 30,000 members of the Agugu community.
The official commissioning took place on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at 8.00 am.
Present at the event was the Chairman, Board of Trustees of The Stone Development Foundation – Arc. Alex Adegboye; Commissioner for Health in Oyo State – Dr. Bode Ladipo; Board members of TSDF, elders of Agugu community, and friends of TSDF.
The Chairman TSDF, Arc. Adegboye said to the community members that Water is life and he who gives water has given life. The Development Foundation has provided the water as a result of God’s love for the people. He further emphasized to the people that God loves them irrespective of what they are going through. He also urged members of the community to take care of the facility and not to damage the water taps.
The State Commissioner for Health appreciated TSDF for its contribution to humanity. Also, he said water is very important to our day-to-day activities, and without access to clean water people will be exposed to all manner of diseases. He also said the state government is committed to making clean water available in the state.
To this end, the community members were excited and they said this is the first borehole facility in the environs of Agugu. It was made known that other available borehole water is being sold while TSDF thought it suitable to provide free borehole water to the community. Finally, they appreciated TSDF for the privilege of access to water while they promised to maintain the facility.
